Program Testimonials
Study abroad clarified my goals for life by reminding me just how much more cultural and artistic appreciation there is beyond the United States. It opened my eyes to a possible professional future in the arts in Europe.

Interesting Course
Program Testimonials
The modern Italian literature class I took was the most interesting because we covered a wide variety of topics and I was really able to grow as a student throughout the semester while gaining all this knowledge.
— Colleen O'Connell, Spring 2012

Program Testimonials
The most interesting academic course I took while abroad was Art History. Being a science major I have become so used to taking only science classes so art history posed as more as a challenge for me but turned into a great learning experience for myself.

Unique Aspect
Program Testimonials
My experience was made much better by my involvement with both private voice lessons and chorus in Florence. My ability as a vocalist grew incredibly with the help of an amazing professor who is also a well-known singer in Europe. My work with the chorus enabled me to meet and befriend people from many different countries all over the world and learn about their experiences. The chorus was also taught entirely in Italian, which helped to immerse me in the language.

Why Study Abroad
Program Testimonials
I would tell any Elon student to absolutely study abroad in Florence because it is one of the greatest places in the world. There are so many opportunities to travel and experience things that one could never even dream of back at Elon. It is a great program and a once in a lifetime chance to go out on your own and live independently in a new culture.
— Colleen O'Connell, Spring 2012
Why should Elon students participate in Study Abroad or Study USA, and specifically on this program?
Program Testimonials
Elon students should do everything in their power to experience at least a few weeks abroad. If fortunate enough to spend a semester, do it. There is no greater experience than this one. I learned more about myself and others than in any classroom. I was able to experience a new adventure every day. Certainly everyday proved challenges and were difficult. But it was the excitement of new food, new people, and new places that kept me going. Florence was the most perfect place. I was able to find comfort in being surrounded by Elon students while also seeking new experiences. I so easily was able to remove myself and meet new people. I also had the privilege of finding comfort in being independent. The days that I spent time alone, especially eating meals alone, were the greatest of learning experiences. I was able to notice the power of my individuality, my ability to find calamity among the bustle of a city, and the impact of others.
