How has your experience changed or clarified your aspirations for life?

I was lucky enough to study with a specialized theatre program also in London I was given the opportunity to see 22 shows. This study abroad experience helped me to expand and change as an artist and a citizen of the world. This experience helped me realize a new love for theatre.

How has your experience changed or clarified your aspirations for life?

Traveling to London really solidified by aspirations as an actor. I learned new things about the craft and myself, which changed me as a person. This experience lit a fire under my seat, making me even more passionate and ready to tackle the acting profession.

Tell us about the most interesting academic component or course you took on this program.

The most amazing class I took was my Shakespeare class. We spent the first three classes (all of which were 3 hours long) and analyzed the first scene of Hamlet. So that was a total of 9 hours simply working on a scene that was no more than a page and a half. Our teacher was a Shakespeare encyclopedia, he was the most intelligent man I've ever met. He helped me to approach a Shakespeare scene intellectually.

What was a unique aspect of this program, and how did this affect you or your experience?

What was nice was my program was through FSu, which meant all of my classes were with FSU students and students from Missouri State. So I was given the chance to work with non Elon students.

How has your experience affected you personally?
|
I learned through my classes how to be more fearless with my work and my acting. I have always been a very controlled actor, emotionally and mentally, I have never really been one to take risks. London theatre is known for being fearless and taking risks. Through my classes I have started to become a more fearless actor and I've become more confident in my work.

Why should Elon students participate in Study Abroad or Study USA, and specifically on this program?

This program as I've said helped change me as an actor. I have become more confident and more exciting with my work. As a future actor who has always lived in the suburbs, I was excited for this opportunity because it felt like a trial run for living in a city. I learned how to move in a city, how to be safe, and how to live in a city but also get quiet.

Why should Elon students participate in Study Abroad or Study USA, and specifically on this program?

It's completely life changing. Not only will you learn more about your particular major, but you will learn more about yourself. Through different experiences while I was in London, I became a more confident and outspoken person. It was definitely the best semester I ever had. I would recommend everyone to study abroad.
